INDONESIA

Indonesia, a country of many islands, has been battered by the forces of nature in recent years, its people had barely recovered from the 20014 Tsunami when another devastated the country in 2018 killing almost 400 people and affecting more than 2 million people.

Salam is on the ground building shelters, providing families with clean water, safe sanitation and a roof over their head.

Indonesia has the largest Muslim population with over 220 million people living on the various islands.

The geography of the country and its location means that it is prone to natural disasters and has suffered tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanoes and storms throughout history.

  • 10.6% of the population live below the poverty line (ADB, 2017)
  • For every 1000 children, 26 will die before their 5th birthday (ADB, 2017)
  • 12.6% of the population do not have access to clean water CIA World factbook, 2018)
  • More than 2 million people have been affected by the 2018 earthquakes and tsunamis

A better tomorrow…

Our aid delivery partners are working around the clock to provide people with hope for a better tomorrow. Working alongside Lazismu, our partners on ground zero in some of the worst hit areas, we have made ambitious plans to lift 5600 families out of hardship, that’s an astonishing 30,000 individuals.

Our ambitious plans to build 400 communal toilets, a semi permanent mosque, 50 wells for clean, safe water and provide a mind blowing 2000 Huntara’s (Temporary Occupancy Shelters) has well and truly began but there is still a long road ahead off us.

Give a family a home today.
